CPI of August increases by 2.0%

The Ningbo investigation team of the State Statistics Bureau released the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of August in Ningbo on September 13. According to statistics, the CPI went up by 2.0% over the same period of last year. Among others, the food prices increased by 1.2% and the non-food prices increased by 2.2%, while the prices of consumer goods increased by 0.8% and those of services increased by 3.8%.The CPI went up by 0.3% over the previous month. Among others, the food prices went up by 0.5% and the non-food prices up by 0.3%, while the prices of consumer goods went up by 0.5% and those of services up by 0.1%.

In terms of the categories of products and services, five of the eight large categories witnessed price increases. The top three go to housing, education, culture and entertainment, and medicine and care, with their prices up by 4.9%, 3.3% and 2.7% respectively. Food prices increased by 1.4%, ranking No.4. To be specific, the prices of fresh vegetables went up by 12.3%, those of meat products down by 6.2%, those of egg products up by 0.3% and those of aquatic products up by 3.4%. The prices of traffic and communications increased slightly by 0.3%, ranking No.5. while the prices of clothes, articles and services for daily use, and other products and services decreased by 1.2%, 0.7% and 0.3% respectively.

Compared with the previous month, five of the eight categories witnessed increased prices. The price increases of clothes, education, culture and entertainment, housing, traffic and communications, and food are 1.3%, 0.6%, 0.4%, 0.4% and 0.2% respectively. The prices of the articles or services for daily use maintained at the same level. However, the prices of medicine and care and other products and services decreased by 0.2% and 0.6% respectively.
